First visit ever. A real gem in the Kerem. Great staff and amazing home made Yemenite food. Keep up the good work!

Like many people, I found out about this place from a Netflix documentary. I strongly recommend this place for a lunch break. The beef melts in your mouth :-)

This is such a great place for authentic, heartwarming soup! I had the “beef tail” soup, they helped me with choosing the bread I needed, and also offered some more broth when I was finished. A great time overall

A T T E N T I O N: Soup lovers, prepare your taste buds for a royal treat at Shimon the Soup King!Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the delightful lady in charge, who, noticing our Colombian and Ecuadorian companions, welcomed us with a cheerful “¡Hola!” Talk about setting the tone for a multicultural feast! Our table quickly turned into a veritable soup symposium as we sampled:•Beef Soup: A hearty broth that felt like a warm hug from the inside.•Head Soup: Surprisingly delightful, making us rethink our usual dining choices.•Feet Soup: A step in the right direction for adventurous eaters. Each soup was accompanied by traditional Yemenite breads:•Lachuch: A spongy, pancake-like bread with a texture reminiscent of Ethiopian injera—perfect for soaking up every drop.•Saluf: A fluffy flatbread that served as an excellent vessel for the rich flavors. We also indulged in beef patties and hummus topped with tahini, both of which were delectable. The green spicy sauce added a flavorful kick, though a word to the wise: proceed with caution if you’re not accustomed to heat. The ambiance of the Yemenite Quarter, nestled near the bustling Carmel Market, added to the charm of our dining experience. The prices were reasonable, making the meal even more satisfying. As for the hilbeh—a fenugreek-based condiment served alongside the soups—it had a unique, slightly bitter taste. While it didn’t steal the spotlight, it offered an authentic touch to the meal.Regrettably, we missed out on the Moroccan fish this time, but that just gives us a reason to return. In the kingdom of soups, Shimon truly reigns supreme.

This place has been around for many years. One of the only old fashioned places left in the old part of Tel Aviv.Very patriotic place, food is amazing. The meat gets cooked slowly all night on low fire, which makes it soft and juicy.Recommended to go, not only for the great food, but for the Israeli experience as well as the place resides right in the middle of the Carmel market.

The best soup you could ask for. Ask for more liquid if it's not Friday or you're brave enough
